Why study Building Leadership Capacity - Scholarship?
This module will be valuable for educators who are interested in learning more about the current research within the leadership field. This course focuses on some of the key challenges in developing leadership capabilities - both for those in designated leadership roles in schools already and those aspiring to such positions. The course balances a strong theoretical base with practical components, which enables students to view and understand leadership in context. The knowledge of leadership theories would be useful in unpacking some of the contextual situations in schools/organisation. English proficiency is recommended for students undertaking this module.
Students will have up to 3 months to complete the module.
What you can study
Organisation and schools in general are complex and dynamic and students of the course are better able to understand the complexity of leadership theories by having a firmer understanding of the fine grained concepts that builds practice. This SFC is intended for those working in education but are also applicable to other corporate organisations. Using the¿OECD Schooling for Tomorrow¿scenarios for future schooling,¿students will be challenged to both reflect on current and likely future issues facing¿schooling and¿school leaders as well as identifying their own individual (and where appropriate their team) leadership development needs. The course is designed not as an end-point for leadership capability development, rather as a catalyst for facilitating on-going learning among participants.
