Why study the Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics (Honours)?
This program offers an integrated, cross-disciplinary perspective combining broad & rigorous training in the foundations of politics, philosophy & economics. You will study insights from all 3 disciplines and explore current & future global challenges. This program will equip you with versatile skills to address complex & challenging issues drawing on an historical, social, political & economic knowledge base. You may choose electives from all 3 disciplines, or opt to specialise in one discipline, earning a major in politics, philosophy or economics. All students graduate with Honours at the completion of the 4 year degree. For students who commenced in 2023 or later, the following courses contribute to the research training req'd by PPL 3.50.12: PPES1101, PPES2101, PPES3101 & PPES4100. These courses must be taken at UQ. The BPPE(Hons) has a revised structure from 2023. Due to the rollout of new courses students will not be able to complete the program until 2026. Students applying to change into the BPPE(Hons) from another UG program, and/or applying for credit on the basis of previous studies are strongly advised to contact BEL before making a final decision (bel@uq.edu.au).

Placement courses
PPES4999 is a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) course that provides you with the opportunity to apply theoretical and conceptual knowledge to the workplace via a professional placement. The course is particularly focused on enabling you to develop employability skills, gain workplace knowledge, understand the attitudes of working professionals, grow a professional network, and engage with real world business issues.
Honours
Honours will be awarded to all graduates of this program.
