Why study the Bachelors of Engineering (Honours)/Arts?
This dual degree program allows students to combine studies in engineering with a wide range of majors in the arts. The BE(Hons) has a large number of distinct majors, double majors and minors. Students develop their understanding by applying science and engineering principles to engineering problems of commercial importance. In addition to technical expertise, the program emphasises essential workplace skills such as communication, teamwork, project management, problem-solving and lifelong learning.
In the Arts component, students choose from an extensive list of majors. For example students may choose to pursue language studies, in order to work internationally in their field.

- Students who undertake vacation work, fieldwork or work experience will be required to fund their own travel and living expenses.

Careers
The Bachelor of Arts provides a broad, flexible education and is excellent preparation for a wide range of careers. Many employers, especially in large organisations, look for people with the skills an Arts degree provides. Some specialised areas of study lead to careers in specific fields such as psychology, linguistics, or languages.
The UQ engineering degree is highly regarded and employment prospects are excellent. Engineers find employment, as consultants, in the government and in many areas of business and industry. Program rules for the Bachelors of Engineering (Honours)/Arts
To complete the Bachelors of Engineering (Honours)/Arts
To fulfil the requirements of the Bachelors of Engineering (Honours)/Arts, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.
A student is required to obtain #88 comprising
- #56 from the BE (Hons) List to include a major in a chosen field of study; and
- #32 from the BA Course List comprising -
- (i) 2 majors; or
- (ii) an extended major; and the balance from courses in
- Part A or Part B or a combination of both; or
- (iii) a major and 2 minors;
- Completion of 60 days of Engineering Professional Practice to satisfy the requirements of Engineers Australia.
