Why study the Diploma in Arts?

The Diploma in Arts is available to graduates of a Bachelor program in any field of study. Students enrolling in the Diploma are required to complete one major or two minors. It is a flexible program that allows students to complete arts courses in a new area of study in order to gain additional qualifications. Upon completion and subject to satisfactory performance and entry requirements, this program may enable students eligibility for entry into Honours, to postgraduate coursework and, via Honours, entry to research postgraduate study. The Diploma in Arts is a commonwealth supported (HECS-Help) program.

Please note that in some cases it will not be possible to complete the requirements for the Diploma in one year of full time study, and part time enrolment may be required. This is because some majors (for example, languages) require sequential study.

Program rules for the Diploma in Arts

To complete the Diploma in Arts

To fulfil the requirements of the Diploma in Arts, a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.

To complete the program students complete 16 units from an approved plan from the Course List. There are no minimum or maximum enrolments as the program is made up entirely of courses (and plans) which are already available for Bachelor of Arts students at the University. Note that students should take their studies in the DipArts in a different field to their undergraduate program.
Please note that in some cases it will not be possible to complete the requirements for the Diploma in one year of full time study, and part time enrolment may be required. This is because some majors (for example, languages) require sequential study.

Students should be aware of the University of Queensland policies and rules which govern the conduct of UQ programs. These may be found on the UQ policies and rules page on the my.UQ website.
