Why study the Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours)?
The Honours program offers graduates an introduction to health-specific research. The program consists of a literature review, oral presentation, a course on thesis preparation and the research thesis itself.
Honours candidates will normally be jointly supervised by two academic staff with complementary skills and expertise. Supervisors may be drawn from any of the schools of the Faculty. The Honours research project itself can be undertaken at any approved University of Queensland location, hospital or health care facility.
Possible research areas include:
- the medical sciences
- medical and allied health
- public health
- indigenous health
- international health
- organisational communication
- health systems
- and many others
Once the research has been conducted, the findings will be presented as an academic thesis. Students may publish their findings in a relevant academic journal.

To complete the Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours)
To fulfil the requirements of the Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours), a student must complete the requisite number of courses chosen from the course list in accordance with the Program Rules.
A student is required to obtain #16 from Part H of the BHlthSc List. Refer to the BHlthSc rules for further information.
