Why study Writing, Editing and Publishing?
Would you like to know how to best place a metaphor in a story or to know the difference between a voice, sequence or mood in your writing? The Writing, Editing and Publishing (WEP) area at UQ is one of the most well-regarded and celebrated of the University. It's also the best place in Queensland to seek the answers to those questions. The lecturers; published authors, journalists, PR practitioners, corporate writers and communicators bring a breadth of experience to each of the classes. In turn, students are offered real opportunities for employment and industry networking. Individual courses cover the areas of: film scripting, grammar, freelance journalism, manuscript editing, corporate editing and publishing and fieldwork projects. The programs draw from dictionaries and style guides most commonly used in Australian publishing and use a range of specialist dictionaries, grammars and technical manuals.
