Why study Writing?

The Honours program in Writing offers students the opportunity to pursue in-depth studies in the discipline of Writing, which includes a) Writing, Editing, and Publishing; b) Creative Writing; and c) writing theory. Students specialising in writing theory or Writing, Editing, and Publishing produce a piece of original research in the area of their choosing; students specialising in Creative Writing undertake a significant writing project in the genres of fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, drama, or screenwriting. During the course of study, students will develop the research, composition, and editorial skills necessary for a vocation in writing, as well as develop capacities for critical, creative, and reflective writing practice. The Honours cohort works together in small directed seminars, further honing spoken and written skills, and each student works closely with an advisor to plan, research, and produce a sustained piece of original research.
