Why study World Literatures and Cultures?
The World Literatures and Cultures major provides students with insights into some of the major literary works and other cultural expressions from a wide selection of major world cultures. It aims to provide an international perspective on the fields of literary and cultural studies, and in addition to make students aware of the many different contexts, histories and modes of cultural understanding that enter into any cross- or inter-cultural situation. All works are studied in translation (English) and there is no foreign language requirement.
