Why study TESOL Studies?
The TESOL field is a professional development program for experienced teachers of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and English as a Second Language (ESL). Research and project options are available, particularly for students intending to continue on to higher research degrees. Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) is a dynamic, global profession. With English being the international language of business, education, and cross-cultural communication, qualified TESOL professionals are in great demand worldwide. A number of courses are also offered on-line. The Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma and MA degrees awarded do not provide entry qualifications for language teaching.
What you can study
The program provides thorough grounding in TESOL theory and practice through coursework in the linguistic, psychological, educational and socio-cultural aspects of language learning, and in the methodology of teaching and learning English in second and foreign language settings. Core courses cover TESOL teaching and curriculum, computer-enhanced language learning, language structure, and a range of electives in language teaching and learning. Research and project options are also available, particularly for students intending to continue on to higher research degrees.
