Why study Systems Engineering?
This field in the Masters of Sustainable Systems will address the new technologies and engineering approaches that are required for global sustainable development. The program and courses are designed to attract professionals and graduates from diverse backgrounds and disciplines, concerned with technological matters ' not necessarily trained engineers themselves, but technologists who need to understand how systems are engineered. It will train future 'sustainability professionals with a technological bent', equipped with systems-based knowledge, attitudes, tools and team work ethics to unravel and deal with complex problems in technological domains. In particular, students will graduate with a good understanding of the processes by which socio-technical systems are acquired, developed and evolved, thoroughly informed by a sustainability viewpoint. These skills will be particularly valuable for organisations who need to use technology to control or manage processes sustainably (such as food production, pollution control, etc.), as well as for systems-based industries such as electricity generation and distribution, transport and manufacturing.
