Why study Australian Studies?
Studies in Australian Culture introduces students to the varieties of Australian culture across a range of forms and media including film, literature, drama, television, the visual arts and popular cultural practices. In addition to gaining knowledge of the production, distribution and consumption of Australian culture in particular media, the program offers students the opportunity for comparative study across different forms and different historical periods. Students will gain an understanding of the key social and political issues influencing Australian cultural expressions and cultural institutions. In providing an understanding of the means by which national cultures are constituted the place of Australian culture within international structures will also be examined.
