Why study Secondary?
Students are prepared for secondary school teaching, or training in business or industry. Teaching is a challenging and rewarding career, with secondary school teachers in demand worldwide. Teaching areas include English; Business Education (Business Organisation and Management, Accounting, Legal Studies and Economics); Study of Society and Environment (History, Geography, Economics, Legal Studies, Study of Society); Mathematics (Junior Maths, Maths A, Maths B, Maths C); Languages (Chinese, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Spanish), Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Science 21); Health and Physical Education; Information Processing and Technology; Music, Drama, Media Studies, Study of Religions, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples; Special Needs.

Employment opportunities
Graduates are eligible for teacher registration in Queensland and qualified for employment as teachers in state and independent schools worldwide. Most graduates seek employment as secondary school teachers across at least two of the following areas: Accounting, Agriculture, Asian Languages (Chinese, Japanese, Indonesian), Biology, Business Organisation and Management, Chemistry, Computers and Information Processing, Drama, Economics, English, English as a Second Language, European Languages (French, German, Italian, Spanish), Geography, Health and Physical Education, History, Hospitality Studies, Legal Studies, Mathematics, Media Studies, Science 21, Music, Physics, Special Needs, Studies of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People, Studies in Religion, Study of Society and Tourism Studies. Students who specialise in music or LOTE may also seek employment in primary schools.
