Why study Metallurgical Engineering?

The resources industry is the backbone of AustraliaÂ's economy. Australia is recognised as a global leader in the sustainable and profitable production of a huge range of commodities including iron ore, coal, gold, copper, zinc and aluminium. Metallurgical engineering education has a vital role to play in contributing to the sustained productivity and prosperity of the resources sector, both domestically and internationally. UQ has a proud tradition of offering world-class teaching programs in metallurgical engineering. UQ is committed to maintaining and developing these programs to serve the future needs of the domestic and international resource industries in the face of changing technological, environmental and societal contexts. From 2021, UQ will be offering a Major in Metallurgical Engineering to be completed as part of the Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) and the Bachelor of Engineering (Hons)/ Master of Engineering within the School of Chemical Engineering.
