Why study Mathematics?

Demand is at an all-time high for graduates with quantitative skills trained in mathematics for their excellent quantitative and problem-solving abilities. Such graduates are respected and gain a wide range of rewarding positions in the public and private sectors. They are particularly sought after in banking, finance, insurance and risk management. UQ offers a wide range of courses in mathematics and its applications covering essential topics in calculus, linear algebra and differential equations. Later year courses put an emphasis on new ideas in mathematics and include applications in operations research and optimisation.
