Why study Latin?
One of the fascinating ways to explore ancient Mediterranean civilisations is to learn the original languages in which important works of literature, history, drama, philosophy, medicine, and law were composed. The Latin minor enables students to develop their reading skills one of the oldest languages in the world. Classical Latin is important for the study not only of the Greco-Roman world, but also of the languages, ideas, and literature of pre-modern and modern societies, especially those of Europe, the UK, USA, and Australia. This minor enables students to cover most of the basic grammar and syntax, providing a good foundational knowledge and reading ability. The Latin minor enhances studies in ancient history, history, archaeology, philosophy, politics, law, music, science, medicine, and modern languages.
