Why study Italian?
It has never been easier to study Italian for your degree at UQ. You can study Italian language and culture as a cross-institutional student through Griffith University. Applying is as easy as completing an online application form. Italian is Australia's major language after English and the language of an important member state of the European Union. Studying Italian will give you knowledge of a culture which has strongly influenced the art, music, architecture and literature of Europe and Australia. The major includes language courses from beginner to advanced levels as well as content-based courses (mostly delivered in Italian) exploring contemporary society, cinema, media, music, literature, politics, popular culture and food culture. The student-centred teaching approach promotes not only the development of linguistic and cultural competences but also personal language learning strategies, reflective independent learning and research-based learning. You will explore Italian through new communication technologies - such as blogs, wikis and mobile phones as well as in face-to-face meetings with native speakers. Past students have gone on to establish careers in a variety of fields, from education, law, migration services and business.
