Why study Health Economics?
This field of study provides graduate training in all aspects of health economics, meeting the clear need for comprehensive programs in Australia and internationally. A joint initiative of UQ's School of Economics and School of Public Health, this field is designed for people intending to work in the health sector. No prior knowledge or training in economics is required for this field of study as it offers students the opportunity to develop strong analytical skills and is a qualification which may further career opportunities in national and international health agencies. The Health Economics field of study provides critical insight into the complex economic issues in health sector administration, and the economic impacts of decisions. Students may take courses in analytical techniques, including applied econometrics, public economics, epidemiology, business and economic decision techniques, and health and development.
