Fire Safety Engineering is a growing discipline which is seeing increasing demand throughout Australia and Internationally. Innovation in both construction techniques and materials as well as in how we use buildings results in a need for Fire Safety Engineers to be involved in the design process of many buildings. Changes in regulations across Australia and Internationally mean that the need to include qualified and registered Fire Safety Engineers on engineering projects is growing rapidly. The Graduate Certificate in Engineering Science (Fire Safety Engineering) introduces students to the basics of Fire safety in the built environment and Fire Dynamics. This program has been developed in response to industry demand in an ever-evolving environment for practice. It provides existing practitioners as well as newcomers to the discipline with a formal qualification as a stepping stone to further study. Students who successfully complete this Graduate Certificate will be able to articulate this into the first 8 units of the 16 Unit Master of Engineering Science in Fire Safety Engineering offered at the University of Queensland. Students in this program are taught by staff who are internationally recognised as leading experts in their fields, using state-of-the-art facilities.
