Why study Economics?
Economics is the science of decision making and economies and societies as a whole. As individuals, communities, companies and governments, we face choices every day, weighing up the costs and benefits of our decisions. With an increasing range of global challenges, whether economic, business, social, cultural, health or environmental, economics is more important than ever. Economics determines much of today's social and political landscape, and students undertaking a major are well-positioned to play a strong role in the future direction of business, government and society. With its breadth, the major in Economics equips students to analyse and understand the world through an economic lens. This will be useful in graduate jobs and leadership roles across a range of sectors. Students wishing to complete a BA(Hons) degree in Economics should refer to the BA Economics course list for pre-requisite information.
