Why study Communication?

BA (Hons) in Communication offers you the skills and knowledge essential for a lifetime of creative and critical engagement with media and communication. Building on your undergraduate experiences, this program offers opportunities for in-depth research and leadership from UQ experts and industry professionals. You will culminate your studies by conducting original research on a communication-related topic and presenting your findings in a comprehensive thesis. This program will allow you to master the task of targeting the right people with the right message and stay on top of an ever-evolving industry. Please note that this field has a Semester 1 commencement only.

What you can study

The Honours year focuses on developing and consolidating the knowledge and skills acquired during undergraduate study, with particular emphasis on using those skills in a sustained and purposeful way by conducting independent research. Apart from content knowledge, employers and professionals value Honours graduates advanced communication skills, the capacity for independent work, and the ability to think critically and write substantial reports.
