Why study Computational Science, Biochemistry and Molecular?
Would you like to model how disease states affect living things at the molecular level? Or simulate how new drugs or agricultural processes will work? What if you could contribute to the new and exciting disciplines of proteomics, genomics, bioinformatics and genetic engineering? Computational Science is an interdisciplinary field which uses skills from mathematics and information technology to tackle real-world scientific problems which can only be solved through computation. Biochemistry and molecular biology is the study of the chemical basis of life. Studies in this field contribute to medicine, the environment, agriculture and industry, providing a thorough understanding of the molecular events that control growth and development of all living things. In this dual major, you will learn to construct realistic mathematical models and simulations, perform quantitative analysis of scientific problems using computers, and develop skills to solve real challenges in biochemistry and molecular biology.
