Why study Business Analytics?

The world of business is becoming increasingly quantitative and numeric, in part driven by the explosion of data associated with the digital revolution. The field of business analytics has emerged as data scientists have applied mathematical and statistical methods to business problems. The business analytics major meets the data analytic and decision-making challenges confronting firms by providing students interested in the applied business disciplines with an understanding of the fundamental concepts of data science as they apply to business. The major is designed to familiarise students with the technology needed to be effective data scientists working in business and to equip students with a working knowledge of the types of problems relevant to business and frameworks for solving them.
