Why study Bioengineering?
Bioengineering creates the opportunity to solve health and environmental problems. The University of Queensland promotes training in bioengineering education, with this new Master program to be key component, designed to help graduating students for tackling the major challenges that face our society. Bioengineering is an interdisciplinary research into biocatalysis, biomaterials synthesis, fabrication and characterisation, stem cell culture, tissue regeneration and medical device design. Examples of bioengineering applications include cell engineered to produce chemical building blocks, therapeutical drugs (biopharmaceuticals), tissue engineered organs, new medical imaging technology, diagnostic devices and software systems, and therapeutic devices.
