Why study Australian Studies?
Australian Studies encompasses a range of disciplines including literary studies, cultural studies, history, politics, and sociology, and considers contemporary social debates and their historical contexts. Australia's cultural development in areas such as Indigenous culture and politics, immigration and multiculturalism, gender and sexuality, art, literature, and popular culture can also be studied. Students develop a detailed and critical knowledge of Australia by exploring significant issues in Australian history and contemporary cultures, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies. Please note that this program is designed for students with little or no prior background in the field. Some of the courses listed in this field are delivered jointly to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
