Why study Applied Mathematics?

Study applied mathematics to learn mathematical methods and techniques for developing practical, logical, analytical and creative solutions in a variety of contexts including the physical, biological and engineering sciences.

Build your foundational knowledge in applied mathematical analysis, mathematical modelling and the numerical methods used in computational science.

Apply your expertise to current scenarios in optimal planning, natural resources and environmental modelling or biological science and gain valuable experience to consolidate your knowledge through industry placements and Work Integrated Learning opportunities.

In your final year, you'll undertake an independent research project under the guidance of an academic supervisor - essentially giving you a research apprenticeship. You may choose to tailor your specialisation with a major or minors from a broad range of scientific and non-scientific disciplines to suit your interests and career goals.
