Course description

This course examines English grammatical structures, from simple to complex, & their characteristic deployment in a range of written text types. Word, sentence & text level grammatical features are investigated, & textual analysis reveals how writers' choice of linguistic features produces particular desired effects. This course is of particular relevance to students interested in English language, written composition or pedagogical grammar.
