Course description
This course introduces students to a series of contemporary concepts and theories within the realms of `responsible tourism' including Sustainable Tourism for Eliminating Poverty (pro-poor tourism), cultural heritage and protected area management. Students will also critically examine approaches to responsible tourist behaviour such as eco-tourism. The course encourages students to critically reflect on the 21st century travel and tourism industry and critique approaches, products and services designed to encourage responsible traveller behaviour.
