Course description

This research methods course builds on content covered in SWSP3302. There is a strong emphasis on the application of research methods in practice and program evaluation. A working knowledge of social research methods, including the capacity to choose the most appropriate methods to investigate particular research questions, to critically review social research, and to apply research findings to specific practice and policy contexts, is an essential component of social work practice. This course comprises two interrelated components: developing skills in critically reviewing existing research, and building students¿ repertoire of research and evaluation knowledge and skills. The latter include single system design, focus groups, developing composite measures, analysing secondary data, qualitative analysis, and evaluation planning.
