Course description

Not offered 2010 onwards Maximum quota of 35 students. Enrolment is available to the first 35 students who enrol in this course on mySI-net.
Students doing the health elective will gain greater understanding of health and illness as culturally, socially and politically constructed concepts as well as knowledge about key issues and health service delivery within the current Australian context. An understanding and application of models of social work practice within the health context will be enhanced. Students will consolidate practice skills relevant to the health context, including reflective practice, assessment and intervention in different practice modalities and policy and organisational analysis. This course includes practice based workshops on domestic violence and grief and loss in the health context.
