Course description
This course will introduce students to key concepts and perspectives in sociology through a focus on sexuality and gender. The course covers a wide range of topics such as the sexualisation of society; subcultural expressions of gender and sexuality in Goth and raunch culture; evolving forms of parenthood and family formation; transgender, sexuality, crime and deviance; the meaning of a variety of forms of masculinity and femininity; and the implications of gender and sexuality for health and wellbeing. Ultimately, the course grapples with the issues surrounding the social construction of gender and sexuality over time and across cultures and place. Lectopia will be used in this course.
