Course description
This course is an introduction to the history of the English language from its Anglo - Saxon origins to its current status as a major world language. We focus on the causes of major changes to the language over time and the development and status of the many new varieties of English around the world, especially including varieties spoken in Australia. This course may be cancelled if there are fewer than 20 enrolments.
