Course description
The course aims to develop professional translating skills within the framework of an introduction to translation theory at an advanced level. Through a program of practical exercises, readings and workshops students will develop an enhanced understanding of the translation process, as well as of the particular challenges of Russian to English translation. Special attention will be paid to characteristic differences in the structure of the two languages and to cultural aspects of translation, as well as to the criteria by which a 'good translation' might be judged.
