Course description
Description: This course covers several themes aimed at providing students with an understanding of the : variety of conceptions of health and of development, and how they are measured; fundamentals of the demographic, epidemiological, and nutritional transitions and the bi-directional interactions between health and development; social, economic and cultural components of development and their specific interactions with disease and fertility in various ecological settings; conceptions of socio-economic status and poverty; a wide perspective on the determinants of health and disease, and health improvement in the international context; and, an understanding of the organisations working in international health and their strengths and weaknesses. This course may not be offered if the enrolment is less than 10 students.
