Course description
This course has a minimum quota of 12 enrolments.
The resolution of deep-seated and international conflict poses a range of challenges for the dynamic and rapidly evolving global conflict resolution field which emerged in the second half of the twentieth century. To respond to these challenges this course critically considers: legitimacy and functions of international conflict resolution interveners, planning interventions, timing and conflict mapping, contemporary institutional frameworks for international conflict resolution from the liberal peace to the United Nations and development efforts; conceptual frameworks underpinning international conflict resolution; non-Western approaches and processes, questions of power, gender and culture. Learning in this course draws on scholarship, case studies, and simulations.
