Course description

Examines the evolution of critical theory. Covers major thinkers from Marx through the Frankfurt School to Habermas. The focus of the subject will be on what critical theory has contributed to ideas about science, aesthetics, law, education and politics, especially with regard to ethics and democracy. Discussion of major critiques of critical theory, including feminist and post-modern critiques.
