Course description
Provides a critical account of the political character of the legal system, the political dimensions of contemporary legal issues and the power relations and policy problems associated with law and justice. Topics covered include the political foundations of the legal system, judicialisation of politics, the separation of law and morality, liberalism and the law, formal and substantive conceptions of justice, the politics of the adversarial system, and issues related to gender, race and access to the law.
