Course description

An examination of contemporary research on moral and political philosophy with an emphasis on citizenship and democracy. Topics include: game theory as a way of understanding conflict and resolution; democratic condition of political equality, non-tyranny, and deliberation; general categories for describing and classifying democratic systems; models of democracy; democratic alternatives to electoral politics, particularly John Burnheim's demarchy and cyber-democracy.
