Course description
An introduction to philosophy from the perspectives of sexuality and love. The questions - of what philosophy is and what philosophers do - are approached through a discussion of the work of philosophers such as Plato, Sartre, Merleau-Ponty, Beauvoir and Le Doeuff. The first section of the course is devoted to an exploration of sexual themes and love in Greek philosophy, while the second looks at the work of some twentieth century French philosophers on love and sex.
