Course description
This course examines the aetiology of workplace induced illness and preventative measuers designed to eliminate or minimise such illness. The requirements for occupational services needed to protect the health of workers and promote good health outcomes in the workplace will be reviewed. Occupational infections and occupationally derived cancers will also be reviewed. Dysfunction and illness in specific body systems and functions resulting from occupational conditions and exposures will be discussed. The body systems and functions addressed will include the cardiovascular system, hepatic function and metabolism, the musculoskeletal system, the renal system, reproduction and developmental, the respiratory system, skin and thermoregulation.
