Course description

Practice problems involving injury and multiple trauma provides the context for learning anatomy, physiology & pathophysiology of the musculo-skeletal system. Issues associated with nursing management, including complex resuscitation, and the legal & ethical issues associated with informed consent for all ages and duty of care, will be covered. The social, health & economic impact of alcohol misuse on the community will also be covered. Students will learn about the prevalence & risk factors for musculoskeletal related health problems identified by population based studies & the global burden of morbidity & mortality due to injury. Health education for individuals & health promotion strategies for communities to prevent these problems will be explored.
