Course description

This course introduces students to contemporary developments in the theory and practice of the developmental psychology of music, and provides opportunity to consider the implications for music learning and teaching in studio, community, and classroom music education settings. Issues addressed will include: pre and post-natal music development, music perception and cognition, music identity, music communication, music preferences, motivation and music engagement, giftedness and talent, music creativity, and a cultural psychology of music education. NOTE: This course will not be offered if there are fewer than 15 enrolments.
