Course description

NOT 2011 This course aims to study women and gender in music from musicological and music education perspectives, focusing on three main areas: women composers, women performers and gender issues in music. Case studies are drawn largely from the 19th and 20th centuries, and include consideration of Australian women composers, women in opera, instrumental performance, jazz and conducting, as well as gender issues more generally. NOTE: Course offering may be cancelled if fewer than 20 student enrol.
