Course description
Molecular genetics, cell and developmental biology of microorganisms. Signal transduction and regulation of expression bacterial operons and regulons. Bacterial physiology and stress responses. Cell biology of bacteria and archaea and major experimental models for bacterial development. Evolutionary microbiology ¿ the origin of life, RNA World hypothesis and evolution of the first microbial cells; the tree of life and diversity in domains Bacteria and Archaea; and microbial origins of the eukaryotic nucleus and its genes.
