Course description

This course provides an integrative view of business functions & explores the historical approaches to process management; namely, total quality management, re-engineering & benchmarking. The course shows how organisations develop their core processes & manage through them, & how new technologies alter the design & management of processes. Processes such as the planning & control of operations in service industries; distribution, manufacturing & other organisations are investigated. In particular, the course investigates the use of information systems, process improvement & quality control; & how these systems assist managers in the control of operations.
