Course description
The Elective is an 8 week rotation to be undertaken by Year 4 students. Students are able to undertake the Elective as one eight-week block or two four-week blocks. Preceptors may be clinicians, scientists or other professionals who agree to act as a Preceptor for a medical student. A medical practitioner should be a member of the team to which the student is attached. Potential Preceptors may be approached by students directly or by a member of the School of Medicine on behalf of a student. Interstate and international electives are encouraged. The student will learn attitudes and professionalism from observing the Preceptor and discussing future potential clinical and personal issues. Agreed learning objectives should be agreed prior to commencing the elective rotation.
