Course description
Medical Science 1 will begin with an introductory module which will emphasise core scientific concepts. Students will then progress to the application of biomedical sciences (including anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, biochemistry, immunology, and microbiology) and clinical sciences (such as radiology and pathology) to medical practice using the systems-based, Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model that is already well established in the UQ MBBS program. The small-group PBL tutorials will be supported by a combination of lectures, laboratory classes, expert tutorials and symposia. Medical Science 1 will include the following modules: Introductory, Cardiovascular, Respiratory, Renal, Gastrointestinal & Metabolism, and Musculoskeletal.
