Course description
(no longer offered)Thermal physics, thermodynamics, thermal properties, diffusion in solids, wave motion, interference & diffraction in solids. X-ray crystallography. Applications: TEM & STM, phase transformations, microstructure, structure/property relationships. Microstructural control of mechanical properties of engineering materials, deformation, failure & fracture. Materials selection, laboratory experiments.
