Course description
Not offered in 2013 This course surveys the field of Linguistic Pragmatics - the study of the use of language. It explores theories and methodologies concerning how we use language to do things like make requests, ask questions, tell stories, be polite (or impolite), take part in conversations and in institutional talk. This course may be cancelled if there are fewer than 20 enrolments.
