Course description
NOT 2008. This course is designed to introduce students from China and Australia to the salient features of the investment regimes that apply in each legal system. The course will provide an overview of the laws and regulations that govern foreign investment including the significant institutions of government that control and supervise investment; constitutional and legislative safeguards afforded foreign investors; the types of business entities available for the foreign investor, notably the operation of joint ventures; relevant aspects of employment law and environmental law; protecting the intellectual property of investors; issues of taxation law and policy that impact upon investors; and the options utilised for dispute resolution, both at the domestic and international level.
