Course description
This course seeks to develop students' knowledge of insurance law that deals with global political and economic risk. The course begins by considering business risk management and then examines the protection of international business assets and liabilities under Australian law and considers relevant legislation including the Insurance Act 1973 (Cth) and the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth). The course then examines political risk insurance by covering topics such as the nature of political risk and sovereign credit risk, major players in the political risk insurance market, contract considerations, key exclusions and operational issues. The course considers reinsurance and other cross border coverages.
